Whew. My new hatch from Defender arrived. It's a biggie! (pic)

And it is WHITE, not only the frame but the acrylic. I'd say the aluminum is powder coated with a slightly off white color that I expect will be about the same color as the deck paint.

As to size, it's remarkable how much a hatch size goes up from 19X19 to 24X24 opening. It is what I'd hoped for though. It'll be big enough for a stiffening, 'ritic slightly older guy to duck down and get into and out of easily for standing in to work the foredeck. Should it be necessary to rush the anchor line or toss a mooring line I don't want to have to shinny through an opening just barely big enough. The good news is the boat has a bit of that cod's head and mackerel tail thing going on so the beam is carried well forward making plenty of room athwartship and enough room fore and aft to fit the hatch. For sure plenty of room to install the Nicro day/night vent unit.

AND...it'll kind of be like a middle aged convertible for me. I will need a good bug screen for the summer, though.

All of this is, of course, speculation until said boat gets finished.
