How could I pass up going to a nautical thrift store? As it happened, the day I was in port it was closed. But, I stayed in Oriental the next morning just so I could check it out. Got there early and befriended a cat and had a nice chat with the woman who opened up the store and who had a wrapping around an arm at the time. Was very proud of myself, though, that I didn't buy anything.

On the way back to the dinghy a local pulled his van over to the side of the road and gave me a ride. Nice, sailor-friendly place.
