The micro blasts or impacts, multiple impacts per second on the nut or bolt, of an impact driver, allow one sided tightening where with a wrench you would just spin the entire bolt. It works about 95% of the times I use it for this. Occasionally you'll still get a spinner but impact drivers are really, really handy..!!
