The first time I took ours off the SS shaft several years ago it was hell getting off the shaft. I used the old deep socket and 4 bolts trick to press it off. I cleaned out the bore with emery cloth and it slipped back on easily with a very slight bit of play. I asked an experienced guy in the yard about it and he said "Don't worry. Put it together dry (no oil) and wait a few days. It'll be tight as ever." The new rust brought it up tight.
