First of all, the pose was trite, everyone who has gotten on a boat since titanic has that shot.

The shoreline was exactly on her waistline and her upraised arms were pretty much in line with the horizon except for a few lumps just above her arms. Only the difference in colors provided any separation of subject from background. There was nothing of visual interest on the sides of the image and (if you weren't just going to delete it) should have been cropped as a vertical with a bit more space in the sky since her upraised arms were directing the eye upward.

The oscilloscope pictures show a much greater appreciation for the subject.
