There is duty on boats built in other countries. The amount varies by country. Unless you live and will keep the boat in a state with no sales tax, you will have to pay sales tax to your state on the purchase price when you register the boat.

Perhaps the biggest difficulty will be getting documentation of the sale that is acceptable to your state. Talk to the state before you buy to find out exactly what paperwork you will need.
