found. a cheaper substitute for hypalon glue.

that twenty dollar a tube stuff that hardens after one use never appealed to me. i've always been looking for a cheaper substitute, and like many others, i've used 5200. it works, but you still wind up using a bit and then having the rest harden in the tube, although at least it's cheaper.

so a few weeks ago i happened to be looking at various glue products in home depot when i happened to notice the words 'rubber toughened' on a package of 'gorilla super glue'.

hmmmm....

super glue and rubber toughened. so i buy the stuff - two small tubes in a package for about four bucks or so. i reattached some loose fittings on my old zeppelin. an hour later i tried the fittings and they were on solid. that was two weeks ago. the joins feel pretty strong and haven't come apart, although i've used the boat a couple of times since. this stuff may make it possible to carry a small repair kit on the dinghy - a couple of patches and a tube or two of gorilla super glue.

so why don't you guys try to make a repair or two on your hypalon dinghy with this stuff and let us know how it works out. by the way, i have no idea if this will work on pvc dinghys.
