after raving to everyone about my discovery - that gorilla super glue is a cheap substitute for hypalon glue - i took the time to check out the gorilla website. they clearly state that the glue is recommended for indoor use and that long exposure to warm water could weaken the bond.
but the bond i made sure looks and feels good after a few weeks. so i decided to give it the boiling water test. i glued two pieces of hypalon together and let them set for a few hours - gorilla says the bond sets in 30 seconds. then i put it in a jar and poured boiling water into it. an hour later i poured more boiling water into the jar. and then more an hour later. let it sit overnight. so far the bond is still tight, no sign of coming apart.
of course this is not a test for uv sunlight deterioration.
so i'm modifying my original recommendation. i now recommend gorilla super glue for a quick temporary patch on hypalon. i can't make any predictions on low long it will last, but i'm pretty certain that it will at least get your hypalon dinghy back to your boat from that shoreside excursion....
