... of course this gets back to the "crap" aspect of the software.

This format allows a running stream of discussion that is easy to follow and easy to respond to. Personally I like it a lot and while the upgrade has taken a few days to iron out and get used to, overall I think it works quite well.

No doubt a bit more tuning will enhance it further.

For me personally, the timing of the upgrade happened to correspond to an upgrade on a cycling BBS I also follow... suddenly all my web "friends" were in disarray.

I think Phil is doing a fine job, and I only wish that there were more contributors to this board. I do think however we have some fine "stars" here, such as Bob Perry and others.
