When you live in So Call all your life and spend lots of time on boats you inevitably are going to experience earthquakes on a boat. Here's another one...
From the web
"At 4:57 a.m. on June 28, 1992, a very strong earthquake occurred in the High Desert of Southern California. The M7.3 earthquake was centered on the eastern side of the San Bernardino Mountains near the town of Landers in Homestead Valley. The quake was the largest to strike California since the Kern County M7.7 earthquake in 1952."
I happened to be sleeping aboard a boat in Dana Point Harbor. The quake caused ripples the size of wakes across the whole harbor. It woke us up and I got up to look out and try to see who the a..hole was that was speeding through the harbor creating the wakes. There were no boats, just the wake sized ripples, everywhere. We didn't make too much of it and just went back to bed. By the time we walked up the dock a few hours later everyone was buzzing about the big earthquake. The same morning about 8:00 am. we were motoring across Dana Point Harbor to pick someone up at a dock. Just as we approached the dock the 2 people standing on the dock got a funny look on their faces and started acting strange. We also noticed the pilings on the dock we were approaching were wiggling. It was a 6.4 aftershock. We did not feel it as we were not connected to anything at the time as we were a few hours earlier. We just saw it wiggle the pilings and freak out the people on the dock.
