I hookup up an Autohelm (now Raymarine I think) Tiller-Master 1000 to the vane as indicated on the Monitor web site and have had great success in very light air with it. Sailing in 5 knots true as long as the boat was moving the vane worked just fine. Of course it drew almost nothing electrically as the effort to move the little tab I installed where the wind vane normally is was negligible. One sails a magnetic course, but that's OK too.
