Hello Peggy ... this a PHII Head, pre-92 (whatever the date is), has always worked great, gets rebuilt every couple years, entirely Bahamas for a few months a year. After lay-up over the summer/fall, I have noticed some difficulty flushing, some times, not always, the intake exceeds the volume of the discharge, even if I pump vigorously. I also notice the water in the bowl swirls more while pumping. I took it apart, cleaned the flapper and joker, put them back in, no difference. Perhaps I should have just replaced both, or at least the joker ? But they appeared to be fine, I greased them w/Superlube before going back. Should I just replace the Joker and see if this is why ?
Also, on the top of where the Intake attaches to the Pump Housing, there is a plug, with a small what looks like duckbill valve inside. Does the white plastic ring part of this duckbill piece go towards the plug face (with the small hole) or away from it ? And I assume the black rubber flapper part of the is ducbill is supposed to be straight ? Mine has bent 90 degrees. Anyway, sometimes when pumping on DRY, water skirts out the hole in the plug. Do you know why or what to do ?
thanks, cheers, John
