Ten years ago, I replaced my PHII with a wilcox crittendon. I was sick of paying $75 for rebuild kits when I could get a New WC for $99. At the time, Peggy told me, that was a bad trade. To which I responded, well if I get five good years out of it, I am money ahead. I got 8 good years out of it and have been nursing it along with parts from WC web site. It still would be good except the little flapper valve that controls raw water intake leaks and I can't seem to get that assembly as a complete unit and when I repair it, it still leaks. I tried, but couldn't just buy the whole pump, pre-assembled.
So, this spring, I'll put a PHII pump on my WC head and be back to where I started, almost. Except it will be a new PHII pump and will probably last several years before I need to rebuild it, again. Buying the whole new pump seems like an excellent solution for me. I never could get the rings on the plump plunger correctly, so that part of the rebuild kit was wasted. I'm looking forward to just strapping on the new pump and tossing the old one in recycling. No muss no fuss.
