His boat has a lot of room also.
We like to sail. Our boat is great in more than 12 or 13 knots of wind but there is so much time that the wind is at 8 knots or from some angle that we can't sail well so we end up motorsailing at least half the time.
When the wind is good we work to make the boat sail well. It's fun but sometimes I get really tired. The wind is behind the beam at 15 knots and we have 150 miles to go so we haul out the asym. and put it up. Now we're really having fun screaming along at 9 knots but it takes energy and after 6 or 7 hours of that and the sun is setting we take it down for the night. When all the stuff is packed away and we settle down to our evening passage I realize I'm really tired and it's only 10 pm. I we spend the night with 3 hour watches and by sunrise I'm toast. By the time we reach our destination I feel like a truck has hit me.
We really love to sail and when we do we want to get the best performance out of the boat. There are times when we both feel that we would have more fun if we switched to a high speed trawler/passagemaker. Our favorite is an Grand Banks East Bay 41'. Like a large Hinckley picnic boat with great nautical lines that can go 23 knots. Unfortunately we can't afford it.
I turn 65 in 2 weeks, perhaps that's it.
Not doing much work here obviously but,,,, it was 11 AM and we still had another 30 hours to go.
