Hey Dave,
...never even moved his head, he was OUT... (grin)
Which reminds me... This winter's cruise is not over yet, but I already know what will be my most enjoyable read this winter... Not sure you have to be a dog lover to appreciate it, but every dog lover owes it to himself - if not his dog - to read THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN, by Garth Stein...
An absolutely wonderful novel, the story of a dog named Enzo (after Enzo Ferrari, presumably) - who is a SPEED Channel addict, and announces by the book's second paragraph "I know what's next, I've seen it on TV. A documentary I saw about Mongolia, of all places. It was the best thing I've ever seen on television, other than the 1993 Grand Prix of Europe, of course, the greatest automobile race of all time, in which Ayrton Senna proved himself to be a genius in the rain..." Needless to say, I was hooked, I read this book almost in one sitting... (grin)
One of those rare and winning tales of pure imagination that come along every so often, like THE LIFE OF PI... Perhaps not the greatest literature you'll ever read, but HIGHLY recommended, I just loved this book...
And, if you REALLY want to get inside the canine mind, I'd recommend one of my best reads from last winter's cruise, THE STORY OF EDGAR SAWTELLE, by David Wroblewski...
best regards,
Jon
