for any cloning software. If the new hardware requires drivers which are not in the cloned image then something is going to break (at least until you download the new drivers). This isn't even a windows specific issue (though I wish it was).

Now, if someone clever comes along and develops a nice bit of cloning software that both restores the disk image AND updates the drivers as required ... they'd probably go broke selling it since one of the big players would no doubt incorporate in to their product tout suite and kill them off.
