It should take us all the way from Bocas Del Toro to Florida. Those along with the cruising guides are all we need (besides the electronic ones). We have both computer generated charts and a C-120 chartplotter with Navionics charts for both. We use the C-120 quite a bit and have grown to trust it (along with our eyes). When it goes down I become unhappy and grumpy, but,,
Well, you know how large our main saloon floor is. I'm a pretty visual person. I get tunnel vision on a chartplotter. Somehow that large paper chart along with a couple of triangles a compass and a pencil spread out on the floor really help with passage planning and understanding distances. All our charts have pencil markings all over them with circles and notes around areas along with lines of position and dates.
Did I mention that I really like my chart plotter also?
Moma don't take my paper charts away. ( they already took the Kodachrome )
