Goo-Gone is pretty mild, natural stuff

I doubt it would harm anything. It comes in handy anytime you have store stickers that don't totally come off, or tape residue and the like. Doesn't cost much and it even smells pretty nice. Available at places like Lowes or HD. Here's a description:

This unique Goo Gone® formula with natural citrus oils and d-limonene in a drip-free, no mess spray gel formula is the superior, extra-heavy duty industrial and institutional degreaser and cleaner. It’s most effective on greasy, sticky problems such as masking tape, paint and varnish, gum, glue, grease and tar. Can be used on virtually any surface and is safe on vinyl, cloth, stone, painted surfaces, fabric and carpet.
