and we were the only boat there except for a Michigan Conservation Office boat. This is the new state marina at Mackinaw City, MI. It just opened in the middle of last summer so I suspect few boaters know it exists. It doesn’t help that the entrance is hard to spot from the water. Also, we were there before Memorial Day.
It looks to be a better season than last year. So far, the weather is much warmer and drier. And the economy has improved a bit. I met a yacht broker in Traverse City who has sold 17 sailboats and five big (50' +) powerboats already this year. All the powerboats were sold to Americans. However, 15 of the 17 sailboats were purchased by Canadian buyers.
