Was listening to VHF16 in SoCal on Monday, usual mass confusion on a holiday. And of course lots of radio checks among the dead battery calls. Sea Tow told a radio checker to switch to Ch 27. I switched over out of curiosity since the marine operator duplex channels are dead these days.
Lo and behold, SeaTow has set up an automated radio check system. Hail for a radio check on 27, and their system records your transmission and plays it back to you (with a plug for SeaTow of course). Really a great idea, you can hear and judge your own sound and hopefully will clear up some of the clutter on 16.
Googled it, apparently they've rolled this out in quite a few places.
Nice job.
