When I took my 20 year old 16' ply down to the builder, there were things I was remiss in. Oh..who'da thought that? The most important one is the amount of sheer in the deck. I have seen these boats around for years and likely I didn't pay enough attention to that sheerline. I suspect that if I were to look closely, I'd see that many boats have a variety of sheer lines in them, including my friend's boat which I'm sure has less sheer.
If I were going to do this again, I would have the sheer "unsprung" about six inches which would have made a much nicer deck to walk on, better room below and lower cabin appearance for the same headroom. I had to not put in quarterberths that I wanted due to not enough clearance for sliding under that sheerline at a critical "knee" spot. This will diminish some of my usage of interior space.
The best I can say is that it is what it is and what it shall be...to paraphrase Robin Williams doing Walter Cronkite in Good Morning Vietnam.
