When cruising, there's never any cell service. The only time we have cellular service is when we decide to stay in a marina for a while. When that happens we go out and purchase a SIM card and some minutes for our phone.

Other than that there's nothing.

People don't realize how little communication is available cruising. That 3G Iphone I have is worthless except for the GPS. It's a 'Black Hole of communication out there.
