lost his anchor while under way. He was about a week ahead of me so I found out about it when me met up with them in Ensenada. It was the middle of the night off Isla Cedros while rough as hell. He didn't even realize that the 400 feet of 3/8 chain and a 65 pound CQR was trailing off the bow. He said he realized that he wasn't making very good time but had no idea of what had happened until the next morning. He had to cut it loose because there was no way to retrieve it under those conditions. He is a good, long term cruiser with quite a few miles under his keel so it wasn't that he did something stupid other then not securing the anchor well enough. He had it in the chocks and a SS hook in the eye at the end of the anchor but it was so rough that the line either chafed through or just parted under load. I told hem I was surprised that it didn't take the bow off the boat when it came to the end.
