Nassau in the previous post. I like the Abacos, but a bit too Americanized for me, and hence the theft. We don't lock anything while in the Abacos or Marsh Harbour, but I am definitely more cautious & aware in Marsh Harbour, I'm very careful where we leave the dinghy. I don't like Nassau, but my child loves Atlantis, so we do stop there every now & then for a day to do the rides and take a slip at their Marina. The $4/ft sounds ugly, but with a child(ren) onboard, it is money well spent and very safe, there's is tons to do and see at Atlantis, it's like Disneyland, we leave the boat wide open when gone all day at Atlantis, I wouldn't even think of that anywhere else in Nassau ... and I do lock the dinghy to the boat while there.

I wouldn't call Nassau "third world" ... I was referring to places like the Berry's, Eleuthera, parts of the Exumas, Acklins, Long Island, and the other out islands of the Bahamas. Where poverty can be commonplace, but, in my opinion, very, very safe. Generally speaking, if a dinghy disappears, it's because somebody had too much to drink and it usually appears the next day unharmed. No problem mon ....
