with the thread ending up running parallel and in the grove created by the twist of each of the three strands. I usually sew about two or three passes before finishing it off and melting the end of the Dacron whipping thread. I do this at the end of the dock line then again about an inch further up to stiffen the end of the line. Doing it twice seems to help keep the end of the line from working, causing the whipping to come loose. It usually lasts as long as the line itself.
