Or maybe clamping up is a better descriptor. The rubrails for Jaunty are only 3/4" thick so a bit over nine inch long scarfs cut on a sled I put together for the table saw. Wax paper is a blessing for clamping. The rough length of them is about 19'. They'll be dryfit then epoxy glued and reinstalled. They are an integral part of the gunnel area. The toe rail which will be built over them will also be epoxied on. The outside will be brass half oval. Any future dings will be epoxy puttied and repainted.
The curse of a small shop is having to wrassle 19' long pieces of small wood up, over, around, and/or through saws and shelves and so on. Good thing it's a small boat.
