"Kiss my ass, I bought a boat, I'm going out to sea."
Do you really need a reason to go cruising? Anyway you look at it, it is a temporary thing. You don't need a reason to live in suburbia. You can probably come up with dozens of reasons not to go cruising. You head out for awhile and live the cruise you want. Then it will be over - either you don't like it, your partner doesn't like it, you don't have the health to keep it up, you don't have the finances, you've done enough and got the t-shirt or you're dead. There's no benefit in agonizing over the 'reason' for years before you go. It is a pretty selfish endeavor and you'll know if the trade-offs are right for you.
