I already had a Lowrance HDS-5 multifunction display so I added the Lowrance BR-24 broadband radar. I really like the combination. You can't do radar overlay on the chart without a heading sensor, but the split screen mode is great.

The cost for the system was just over $2K. The HDS-5 display came loaded with charts for the US. You can add Canadian charts via a Navionics card.

I replaced a Furuno 1621 MKII that died. The difference between the Furuno and the broadband radar is HUGE. Plus the broadband radar is instant on and uses much less power than the furuno did
