Today I put the finishing touches on the fuel system for my 1936 woodie. The boat has two tanks. The top two valves allow you to select which tank the fuel comes from and which tank the fuel is returned to. You can get fuel from the starboard tank and return it to the port tank, and vice versa, if you want. The "Racor In" and "Racor Out" valves select which racor is in use. The two valves have to be set the same way for the system to work, but I can change a filter element in the filter that is not being used while underway or even physically remove that filter from the system if I want to.
The fuel filters are mounted under a galley cabinet. They are separated from the engine room by a sound insulated bulkhead. All penetrations through the bulkhead are voa bulkhead unions to completely eliminate the possibility of a hose chafing where it passes through a bulkhead. The boat has two 45 gallon fuel tanks
