I loved that ship since I first set eyes on her in Norfolk

I passed the United States back in 1982 in Virginia. That was one beautiful cruise liner. Many don't know that she was and is the fastest steam engine ship in the world. She crossed the Atlantic with an average speed of 39.71 miles per hour

It's really in bad shape. At present it appears it will either be sold as scrap or made into a seaside resort complex. I had always wished it would return to service as a cruise liner as was the plan just a few years ago.
