A real hustler in Roatan

We met a guy in Roatan, (British ancestry) that roared up in a panga when we arrived in the anchorage. He told us the best place to anchor and pointed where to drop the hook. When we were through he came back and asked if I could use some help clearing customs and immigration or needing a part for the boat.

Hmmm? Ok,,, we were tired after a 48 hour passage and I didn't want to grope my way around so he took me to town, then to customs, immigration, got me some change for U.S. Dollars and showed me where to purchase beer for the best price and got me a courtesy flag. I said to him about midway through all of this, "So,, I guess you get paid by the Gringos,, what's normal? He said whatever you want but how about $5.00?

We were talking a bit and he said he was a Hustler.

Of course, we've found that a lot in the Caribbean. Mostly 'boat boys' but this guy was different. Very refreshing.
