That price seems high. The Venture 21 is one of the lightest built boats around and is not very high quality.

I'd be real suspicous of why the keel is off. I used to have a set of jack stands I used to lift mine of its trailer. The centerboard, being cast iron is a constant source of maintenance. Every year I would jack it up, wire brush the rust of the keel and repaint it. It was a miserable job.

I always worried about the bolt holding it on and the cast iron itself.

The boat is rigged very lightly, I had to replace all the standing rigging, the size the boat came with I wouldn't use on a dingy.

I never had to drop mine, but had I kept the boat any longer I would have, just for peace of mind.
