When the sun comes out it toasts up nicely. I haven´t actually seen a thermometer but reports are......
Some of the walls and structures here in Antigua have signs that take this or that building back to the mid 1700´s. Thick walls, many with beautiful gardens and homes behind them.
I took my camera with me today to get a few pics of folks. Got...I hope....some nice photos but the camera is a magnet screaming ¨tourist¨resulting in many offers to buy. At least I fooled the shoe shiners, of which there are many in el centro, with my running shoes. Cuts the selling action by a third.
Sometimes there´s a person I´d really like to have a photo of so a couple of times I´ve paid 5Q to take their photo. One old gentleman looked like he could use the dough so I paid him 10Q, about 1.20. This on side streets where that doesn´t attract vendors. Geez, I got mebbe 2.40 in photos, I hope they all come out.
The maid comes to my hogar on Tues and Fri. She would come three times but I can´t see it so twice. She speaks no english but we get by a bit in spanish. The old brain pan is pretty good in the morning, by afternoon I have used up my daily quota of spanish....apparently. That´s when it is siesta time. In general I´ve been shopping much as at home, doing my own cooking rather than eating out, and washing my own dishes..although the maid will do those if left but I´m not used to a maid and am used to doing my own dishes. Go figure.
Well, outta the shade of the internet and back into the sun of the streets. Siesta time comes early some days as it´s only 11:30 or so.
