is something which is dual purpose: something you can wear in nasty and cold weather and something
which would help forestall the onset of hypothermia if you were in the water or a life raft/lifeboat.
btw, the Ice Suits (unless they are of what you call the 'gumby' variety) cost greatly in excess of
$500. More like a thousand.
Others noted perspiration in some of these suits. There are alternatives like dry suits or
Gore Tex work suits (Mustang Survival has good looking high-end products) but they
are very expensive.
Perhaps an anti-exposure coveral would be a good compromise.
OTOH, I can wear my breathable foul weather suit and have layers under it. This would
keep me warm but wouldn't provide floatation. For that, I could wear a PFD over
the foul weather jacket.
