First, your suggestions regarding the computer seeing serial to USB converter carrying the GPS data as a Microsoft Pointing Devise" were right on. I disabled the devise in devise mamager and everything is working perfectly! Thank you.
Now one more issue. I have a new PC. I could not buy a XP machine so I had to purchase a computer running Windows 7. I have NERA Fleet 33 satellite phone that I use for e-mail communications when we are offshore. The NERA interface software is called NERA VT Lite. NERA has gotten out of the satellite phone business and I don't think anyone has written a Windows 7 version of the software and my computer will not recognize the VT Lite program as I downloaded and installed it. (NERA VT Lite Mobile Communications Software sw_NERA_VtLite_Mobile_6_2.zip) The old XP machine functions with the sat phone and software just fine.
I have heard that Windows 7 is supposed to run everything that XP would run but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I am considering having a technician strip Windows 7 off my new computer and installing a "bootleg" XP operating system. Any other suggestions?
