do you file a "work plan"?

float plans, flight plans, but does anyone do a "work plan"? I have been working on our boat pretty much every weekend. Temps have been in the high teens, low twenties with wind and snow. We are shrinkwrapped and I have two 10ga extension cords running to the boat to run the heaters, lights and tools.

This past weekend I had a bit of a scare by getting stuck inside the port cockpit locker while running some wiring. I specifically made the decision to take my cellphone off my belt and lay it on the starboard side of the cockpit so it would not get caught. Unfortunately it was my belt getting caught in some of the wiring loom and associated loom hangers that caused the issue. The club grounds were very quiet due to the weather, no one else was around. I usually work until my feet get so cold I can't stand it anymore and I head home. Depending on what I'm doing, that could be after an hour or after 5 hours. My wife really didn't know when to expect me. Obviously I got out, but it took a bit of doing. How do you handle such things? Check in call times? Max time allowed to be out of touch? Or nothing at all?
