Went to visit my boat after a recent snow/sleet storm and noticed a lot of ice in the cockpit (probably about 6 inches thick). It was frozen so hard I couldn't remove it and was concerned that it blocked my cockpit drain scuppers. Any suggestions as to the best way to melt away ice like that? Could I put rock salt or sodium chloride down in the cockpit, or would it damage the fiberglass, or the bottom of the aluminum pedestal?
Thanks!
