I'm using it with Coastal Explorer and have it connected to a serial USB adapter for the laptop. It also feeds GPS info on the same interface so that's the only laptop connection I need. I use a Verizon 5-spot for Internet aboard.
I use a standard VHF short whip on the stern rail (with 3-foot base extender) for the AIS antenna (no VHF splitter) and get about 10-15 (edited) miles send/receive verified. Maybe further but never verified. It sips power - very low amp usage even when transmitting.
I have nothing bad to say about it. It is well made and worked immediately without any fiddling around.
