They were installed on the boat by the PO, company is located in Western NY and although is still in business, only supplies parts now. I ask the question because I am not familiar with the name or quality. When talking with the broker, it sounds like many people in that area purchased them to support a local business. (which I have no problem with at all).
I am a bit suspicious because of problems we have already encountered, but it may be just a fluke. I noticed at the end of the season that the knotmeter was acting wierd. When we hauled out I found one of the magnets on the wheel was missing, cheap fix at $14 but I never had that happen before. When we purchased the boat the anemommeter was not working because one of the cups was broken. Once again, no biggie at $10 for the replacement, but I also found notes in the owners manual that the previous owner replaced it at least once as well. I also shattered the replacment when it slipped out of my fingers and bounced off my workbench. Never having had an instrument to measure windspeeds on any of our other boats, it seems to me that considering the duty and location, it should be a little more stout? Is it normal for this to be plastic and fragile?
