The sailboat that went up on the shore on Long Island

looks sad in this latest photo. This on Soundbounders blog that has followed the accident. Amazing how devastating the surf and tide are to a boat. The hull is steel and looks fine. I would guess any strong hull would likely survive. Hulls are only part of a boat when something like this happens.

The damage by water and sand looks catastrophic. Imagining the equipment that needs to be replaced, the time required in the repair work and the costs to get the boat off the beach, this is a tough fix. Very hard for the owner.
