Is an old Irish proverb that might have been handy for my daughter to say to her cousins, Finn and James, as they make their first attempt at the oars. I have a photo on my dresser of my son and daughter at the same age doing the same thing.
My large Irish inlaw side has supplied us with many nieces and nephews to take sailing. This has meant no let up in exposing first timers (of all ages) to the water. This young age is the most fun to put into a new world, and just watch.
I think there is often some sort of connection made between some of us and the water at this age. If you get the connection, it can stay with you for life.
