I got the flyer from Hamilton advertising their open house and sale. It mentioned a "barrel of rope" sale from Yale, 50-70% off. I figured what the hell, I'll call. So Pat answers the phone, I tell her what I would like, she hands the phone off to Phil. I explained that I would like some nice Yale braid for my RF line, main sheet and a main and headsail halyard. Phil said he would take care of things for us but that he could not guarantee exact length or color match. I gave him some lengths and diameters, told him I didn't care about colors as long as they were all different.
The box came yesterday, what a total hoot! The rope was sold for $3.38 a pound which was less than the tags on the hanks, which were already a steal. I ended up with everything I wanted, about 400 feet worth, for $39 + $12 shipping. All great quality Yale rope, I have all new running rigging!
I had to call them this morning and let them know how happy we were. Phil was a little concerned about the hank that he described as looking like a snake (burgundy with yellow zig-zag tracer), I thanked him for his great choice in colors. We are really pleased. Especially since what I expected to be a $400+ bill came to $51.
