I have the epoxy coating coming already so I will use it. The fiberglass tanks have roughness that seem to trap and grow crud. The epoxy will provide a smooth hard surface that should help. It is made for water tanks albeit bigger ones than mine. I'll make sure it's well cured and flushed before use. Thanks for the suggestion Greg. The water lines will be dealt with using Peggy's method afterwards. I appreciate you sharing your expertise and will print it off for reference. I sure hope it helps since the amount of gunk in a glass of water currently is disgusting. Most of my plumbing is copper so I'd like to keep it in use rather than change it all over to PEX or such. Butyl tape sounds like a good idea! I'll go roam the aisles of Home Depot and see what I can find. Thanks!
