Since we pull out of El Cid Marina in an hour, the last internet connection we'll have for about three weeks I wanted to do a bit of research on the trip from Isla Mujeres to the Dry Tortugas. Your website came up with your trip the other way. I guess it was your first from the states to the Caribbean (Isla Mujeres). I like the part about the Igloo cooler launching itself across the salon dumping it's ice water throughout the boat. We seem to have comfortable passages like that a lot.
I thought about sending you some of the stuff we learned about 'Commute Cruising' if your interested. Such as,,, when we were in the states we used a dehumidifier. In the tropics it makes the boat about 110 degrees inside and ruins stuff. Now we put a window air conditioner in the companionway and hook it up directly to shore power keeping the boat off line. We come back and the boat is dry and cool. They always say it will cost a lot to run the air but it's worth the $50.00 a month.
We also have a 'high water alarm' in the cockpit so anyone walking the dock will hear it if it goes off.
Nice site you started.
