I just installed a West AIS 1000 transponder.
Seems to work OK, but now that it is running I can see that the West techie who installed the MMSI and boat name has misspelt the name

The ProAIS software that comes with the transponder is blocked to prevenbt users entering data, as required by FCC rules.

However we are Candian, and not subject to FCC. Anybody know a solution?
There must be a way to get unlocked software

If I had bought the AIS here in Europe I would have received the full software, which would let me correct the name

Of course, West will fix the problem if I return the unit to the US, but since we are cruising n Scotland and headed to Scandinavia, I have no interest in shipping the 5 pound brick Stateside, dealing with customs etc.
