I just had my non-skid redone with Awlgrip in one of the shades of white offered by the company, but the color on deck, once applied, matched a different white color on the color chart, despite that the can said it was the color I had chosen. While it was nice, it was not what I had wanted and was close enough to my old deck color that I would have not have spent the $ to change the color. So the person doing the work, who does beautiful work, got in touch with Awlgrip North America and they sent their rep, Ron Marrone, to take a look at it. He said there was no problem that he could see, but at least 20 people who had looked at the color swatch on the chart vs. what was on the deck said there was a clear difference. What really ticked me off was that the rep made his judgement while wearing sun glass and refused to take them off to look at the two shades of white, the one on the chart vs. the one on the deck, with the naked eye. So much for really trying to see if there was a difference in the shades of white. It was clear that there was no interest on his part in addressing the problem. When I objected to him making his judgement without taking off his sun glasses, he just walked away, got into his truck and left.
On my last boat I specified Awlgrip when it was painted from the waterline to the top of the mast, which lead me to spec it again. But be assured that I have learned my lesson and won't use it in the future. Any company that treats its customers with such casual disregard won't get my $ again. There are paint alternatives out there as indicated by the folks on this board.
