Because we are so far behind launching at the club, everyone is going crazy trying to get boats in by Sunday. I had the opportunity to help step masts on several different boats which was a great experience (I also got see down below). Some of these were double spreader masts which were actually a total PITA to set with the stepper crane. The mast balance point was between the spreaders so someone had to go up in the chair to get the lifting strap off.

Can I assume that double spreaders are used when a mast is made lighter and ends up being more flexible?
