... much as the expectations I have for it Tom. I am a mechanic by trade and I insist that everything work, and work well. Sure a trip to Bermuda has a toll on equipment but most boats I get on fail to meet my standards for maintenance no matter how they are used. The other consideration is the complexity of the boat and its systems. Your boat is probably pretty simple compared to ours. This is partially a function of modern sailing design/equipment trends and to a large degree a result of my ability to keep these things working myself. I like having a watermaker, hot water, espar heat, 12v refrigeration, navigation at the helm, below deck pilot etc.etc. The fact that I can keep these kinds of things working allowed me to build them into the boat with the full understanding that they would require maintenance . I understand the challenges and I like to believe that our boat is really ready for what is thrown at it. That and the fact that I am ever so slightly "out of my mind" lead to pretty extensive work lists and a boat that is in pretty nice shape at any moment.
Cheers,
BB
