It was a long fight with the freshwater system and although the problems have been identified I still need to order more parts.
As you may recall, I had problems with my pressure water. Previous owner may have had the same problems as the plumbing to the pump was disconnected and the wires unplugged. Not acceptable so I put it all back together last season. It never worked quite right, the pressure pump would cycle and pump foamy water, in the course of a week, the tank would be empty and the bilge would be full. The tips everyone posted here were invaulable, especially about air getting into the lines somehow.
So, for those of you that may have issues........this is the way it came down.
I thought it was the tank, cracked maybe? Filling it and letting it stand for a week with the supply line valve closed proved it was fine. Checked off the list and moved on. The plastic water lines were just finger tight to the pump and manifold, tightened but not the issue, no leaks. I thought there was a pump issue as the water coming throught the strainer was just a dribble, bypassed it, didn't help, so back in line it went. I spent many hours over the course of 3 months trying to resolve this and finally discovered the problem. The Whale footpump in the galley. There was a small leak which was draining the freshwater tank. The leak was about 1" away from a weep hole into the bilge so was almost impossible to see. When the pressure pump was activated it sucked air backwards through this leak and into the system, foamy water! It took the pump apart and discovered some loose screws, tightened them and no more leak. In fact, the system works so well now I blew the seal out of the end of the pump where the pressure switch attaches.
