The last few years I posted a few times regarding the state of the local YC's. Older mambers bowing out, boats for sale.
I was just contacted by a friend at another club, the original owner of a mid-70's Tartan 34 is done boating and wants to sell. It is a well equipped, diesel powered boat with (typical for this club) relatively new sails from a local sailmaker who is out of my price range but does excellent work. the boat price is very reasonable
Do you all think selling a mid-80's vintage and going to a mid-70's vintage boat is a foolish move? I have always been impressed with Tartan build and finish, although the beam is only slightly more than the Islander 28, the additional 6 feet of length and headroom would be nice to have.
thoughts?
